CATHOLIC FATIH
About The Faith
The Catholic faith is beautifully cantered on the mystery of the Holy Trinity and the reality of salvation through Christ. The Church teaches there is one God in three distinct Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, all sharing the same divine nature but distinct in their relations (Council of Florence, 1338-1445; CCC 253-255). The Son is eternally begotten of the Father, and the Holy Spirit proceeds from both (John 3:16; John 1:1; CCC 240). Regarding salvation, original sin, inherited from Adam, wounded human nature (Romans 5:12, 15-19). Baptism, even of infants, cleanses original sin and initiates one into the Church (CCC 1250-1252). Though Scripture does not explicitly command infant baptism, the Church’s teaching flows from the understanding of original sin and Christ’s redemptive grace. Thus, Catholicism is the fullness of Christian truth, safeguarding divine revelation and the means of grace. [JUSTIN SUMMARY: Catholic Answers]
